Welcome to the 2026–2027 Castro Valley Girls’ Wrestling Season

Parents, guardians, and wrestlers—welcome to a new year of growth, discipline, and opportunity. I’m excited to begin this season with you and to continue building a program that reflects the strength, resilience, and pride of Castro Valley.

A Brief History of Castro Valley

Castro Valley has long been known as a community built on hard work, family values, and local pride. Originally a ranching and agricultural area, the town grew through generations of families who valued commitment, teamwork, and perseverance. Today, Castro Valley continues to embody those same qualities—making it the perfect home for a wrestling program rooted in discipline, respect, and personal development.

About Coach Sabrina

I bring a diverse background in leadership, discipline, and emergency response to this program. I am a former U.S. Marine Corps service member, a former Air Traffic Controller with Raytheon Technologies, and currently a student pursuing a BA in Emergency Management. I’ve dedicated my career to environments where communication, structure, and accountability are essential.

I’ve coached girls’ wrestling in Castro Valley with pride, and I am committed to creating a program where athletes feel supported, challenged, and empowered. My coaching philosophy centers on discipline, teamwork, and building confident young women who carry these lessons far beyond the mat.

  • Foster a team culture rooted in respect, accountability, and mutual support

  • Prepare athletes for postseason competition through structured training and consistent attendance

Coach Goals

  • Provide safe, structured, and effective training

  • Develop each wrestler’s individual strengths and technical skills

  • Create an environment where athletes feel valued and motivated

  • Maintain clear communication with parents and wrestlers

  • Continue building a long-term foundation for the Castro Valley girls’ wrestling program

Expectations for Wrestlers

Attendance

Attendance is essential for maintaining a position on the team. Wrestling is a sport that requires consistent conditioning, technique development, and teamwork.

  • All practices must be attended unless prior arrangements are made directly with the coach.

  • Excessive absences—excused or unexcused—may impact mat time, lineup placement, or team standing.

  • Communication is key. If a wrestler cannot attend practice, parents or athletes must notify me ahead of time.

Commitment

Wrestlers are expected to:

  • Arrive on time and prepared

  • Demonstrate respect toward teammates, coaches, and opponents

  • Maintain academic responsibility

  • Uphold the values of the program both on and off the mat

Parent Partnership & Program Support

This program thrives because of the partnership between coaches, athletes, and families. Your involvement is not only appreciated—it is essential.

Parent Support Matters

  • Encouragement at home directly impacts athlete confidence

  • Staying informed and engaged helps maintain consistency and accountability

  • Positive sideline behavior sets the tone for our athletes

Volunteering

Running a successful wrestling program requires many hands. We rely on parent volunteers for:

  • Tournament setup and breakdown

  • Snack bar operations

  • Team events and fundraisers

  • Administrative support during home meets

Your willingness to help ensures our athletes have the resources and environment they deserve.

Carpooling

Transportation can be a challenge, especially during tournament season.

Carpooling helps:

  • Ensure athletes arrive on time

  • Reduce stress on families

  • Strengthen team unity

  • Guarantee full roster participation at meets

If you are able to assist with transportation, please let me know so we can coordinate support for families who need it.

Welcome to the Season

I am honored to coach your athletes and grateful for your trust and partnership. Together, we will build a season defined by growth, discipline, teamwork, and pride in Castro Valley. I look forward to watching each wrestler develop—not just as athletes, but as confident young women ready to take on any challenge.

Let’s make the 2026–2027 season our strongest yet.
